Kids' Downtown Mile

The Crowley Road Race is celebrating the 24th Annual Kids’ Downtown Mile Fun Run on Sunday, June 11, 2023. During the week of June 7th-11th, 2023 Rutland County will be participating in the 24th annual educational and sport events in the fight against heart disease through youth fitness. Cardiovascular disease remains the #1 disease in Rutland County, the State of Vermont and the country. We, at the Crowley, are helping the public, and especially our children, to avoid this life-threatening disease and all related diseases. One out of every 2.5 women in this country die of heart/stroke every year. Good eating habits and exercise are the keys to defeating this disease. During this “Heart A-la Carte Week” schools are encouraged to inform their students of the benefits of a healthy life through healthy eating habits and physical fitness. Children take fitness walks in school throughout the week while learning about heart health.

On Sunday, June 11th, 2023 the 45th Annual Crowley Brothers’ Memorial Road Race will take place. To get children involved, the 23rd Annual Kids’ Downtown Mile Fun Run will also take place. The Kids’ Run starts in front of the Citizen’s Bank on Merchants Row at 8:00 a.m. Last year’s event had over 350 children participating. We hope to see all those children return this year along with new participants. All participants receive medals, certificates, and all are eligible to win numerous prizes that are generously donated by area businesses and sponsors. Event t-shirts will be given on a first come bases, so to be assured this t-shirt, children should register early. T-shirts are limited.

Back for the 14th year, Olympian Bill Rodgers is returning to run the 10K. Rodgers is a 4X winner of both the Boston and New York Marathons. He is one of America’s most celebrated runners and it will be a wonderful experience for your child/children to meet him.

The morning of the 12th will be filled with special events: food vendors, health exhibits, door prizes, and much more. Join us in the celebration of youth fitness and heart health.

Children are also invited to participate in other Crowley event races; 10K, 10K Relay, 5K, 5K Fitness Walk.
